Hey hey hey my people!
Any Manchester United fans in the building? Any Arsenal fans in the building? Any Chelsea fans? Liverpool? Nottingham Forest? Or should I mention La Liga teams?
I am fresh from a Man U victory as I type this, so I am painting the town rrreedd!!!
Carabao Cup is ours for the taking! To the football fans reading this… more so Arsenal fans, y’all are thinking, “.. what about EPL huh? What position are you on the table?” Well, the Holy Spirit will answer you on my behalf because I am here for a good time kindly. A win is a win!
You will, however, read this article in the month of March and definitely new developments would have happened in the football world but for now, I am basking in our EFL glory!
God has an interesting way of working things out for His good. Some time last year, I was in a mental funk and I shared bits and pieces of that experience with you. Now that I am smelling the roses and feeling the sunshine again, I am enjoying every single bit of it! Please do not take anything for granted. If you wake up in the morning with a sense of purpose, a smile on your face and a will to not only live but to succeed; please thank God! I know what it means waking up and wishing you hadn’t, eating food that has no taste in your mouth and a sense that you have completely lost touch with literally everything!
I work in the Agriculture sector and God brought this erm.. interesting… young farmer my way. He startled me when I first heard him speak because his bass is looooow and I mean loooo-ooo-ooo-ww! Think Barry White kinda low. I quickly christened him Tarzan because whenever we spent time together, he was either climbing trees, slaughtering an animal (a pig or a goat or whatever can be slaughtered), chasing wild things with his dogs, swimming in the river and he was almost always shirtless [no complaints were registered]. The Tarzan nickname tickled his fancy so much so, that we ended up watching that movie together. Oh what fun! The only missing pieces in this Tarzan script is that he was not raised by a family of gorillas and my name is not Jane; lol
While on Tarzan’s farm, I got to meet his friend…..
…. at this point I think I should be a professional story teller 🙂 or part of the writers of the second edition of the Bible. John the disciple and I would be in the same room typing away! John had a way of telling his stories…
Peter and the other disciple left immediately for the tomb. They ran, neck and neck. The other disciple got to the tomb first, outrunning Peter. Stooping to look in, he saw the pieces of linen cloth lying there, but he didn’t go in. Simon Peter arrived after him, entered the tomb, observed the linen cloths lying there, and the kerchief used to cover his head not lying with the linen cloths but separate, neatly folded by itself. Then the other disciple, the one who had gotten there first, went into the tomb, took one look at the evidence, and believed. No one yet knew from the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead. The disciples then went back home.
John 20: 3-10 MSG
Bro was writing about himself the whole time! Hahaha! He had to rub it in that he outran Peter. Okay, that was a commercial break. Where were we? Yes…. on Tarzan’s farm. I met one of his friends who had gone to visit him. We did not speak much at that time because another trait of Tarzan’s is that he is super funny and he had everyone laughing the whole time. We did however, get to drive back to the city together; but I slept from the time I got into the car to the time I stepped out of it. You know, three days full of Tarzan activities is equivalent to a month’s workout in the gym. I was knackered.
Weeks later, Tarzan’s friend commented on a post of mine during the World Cup. Yes, I am a football fan in case that was not obvious up till this point. We had intermittent football banter here and there then he happened to be traveling to Mombasa in the course of his festive break.
True to his word, he came to Mombasa and I got to show him around. I am an island girl, my people, so beach life is me and I am beach life.
Aside from enjoying God’s beautiful creation, we had a conversation about our faith and the journey we are on with Christ. He was intrigued that I was a believer whereas I, on the other hand, was wondering how he was friends with Tarzan because their personalities are worlds apart! He is chilled out with very few words whereas Tarzan is the exact opposite! Needless to say, opposites attract. I asked him how he would describe God and he responded that he would pray about it. We carried on with the good times and it soon became night. Thereafter, we remained in touch and a few weeks later, he shared with me this beautiful poem he penned as an ode to his Lord; it goes thus:
You are beautiful in Splendour,
Wonderful beyond measure
You do wonders beyond imagination
You are excellent in your display of art
Mighty in your endeavours of war
You defend the weak and expose the proud
You break chains and chain men to their greed
You are intrinsic in relations
Personal in your touch
You get to the core of who we are
Unravel us to mysteries unknown to us
You display your beauty leaving us awed
You are seated in the heavens
You are exalted above the earth
Everything pales in comparison to You
You are the Almighty
You are the Great I Am
You are God by yourself
Holy is your name
No need for sustainability
No need for compatibility
You complete all things
Making them new as water
Rushing in the dry lands
You are God
You are the Lion
And the Lamb
You are Saviour
Counsellor and friend
The author of the lovely poem is Brian Ogaba and you will be reading more from him and about him in the coming days. I am happy to be featuring more men on the blog… Yaaayyy!
If you have a testimony that you would like to share, please let me know in the comment section below and if you are not born again, please repeat the prayer below out loud:
Thank You for dying on the cross for me. I believe in my heart that you died and rose again and I confess with my mouth that You are Lord and Saviour in my heart and in my life. I denounce my former ways and choose to be Your child. Thank You for setting me free. I am now born again.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
Glad to have been the source of some spiritual nourishment today.
Talk soon God’s people!
Remember to brush your teeth before you sleep… lol.

My favorite take-away from the blog is the poem: “You break chains and chain men to their greed”
Galatians 5:24 (MSG translation) Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed of for good – crucified.
